Fourth quarter rally falls short as SMU downs Tigers

DALLAS, Texas – A late fourth quarter comeback fell short Monday evening as the University of Memphis women's basketball team finished the 2019-20 regular season with a 69-60 setback to SMU. The Tigers head into the American Athletic Conference Championship as the No. 11 seed with a 13-16 overall record, finishing 4-12 in league play.

Freshman guard Madison Griggs knocked down seven three-pointers to pace the Tigers with 21 points. She also added a career-high eight rebounds. Senior Gazmyne Herndon turned in a 13-point, eight-assist effort for the Tigers.

Memphis and SMU started the first five minutes of the contest balanced with each other as neither team garnered more than a possession lead against the other.
