Early deficit plauges Tigers in midweek setback

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Early runs plagued the Memphis baseball team as the Tigers dropped a 10-6 decision to Murray State Wednesday night at FedExPark.

Murray State (1-3) plated five runs in the top of the first inning to build the early advantage. Although Memphis (1-3) answered on three occasions, the Racers never relinquished the lead.

After the big inning by the Racers, the Tigers found their first opportunity to answer with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first. Memphis scratched across its first run on a double-play groundout, but left a pair stranded.
