MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis senior outfielder Chris Carrier has been selected by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. The Memphis native becomes the 19th former Tiger to be drafted since 2010.
Carrier was a first team All-Conference selection in 2017, batting .330, with 16 doubles and 16 homers. He compiled a .438 on-base percentage and a .641 slugging percentage. His 50 RBI and 44 runs scored were both team highs, while he also swiped a team-best 10 bases.
The Christian Brothers High School product, ended his career riding a 21-game hitting streak, the longest of his career.
