Brooks’ Cycle Not Enough as Tigers Fall 10-6

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Despite SS Ben Brooks hitting for the cycle, the Memphis Tigers (20-21, 5-10) fell behind early and never got closer than four in a 10-6 loss to the Wichita State Shockers (15-29, 4-11). Brooks went 4-5 with three RBIs for Memphis' first cycle since C Taylor Howell matched the feat in a 23-8 win over Western Illinois, March 1, 2020.

Memphis: 6, Wichita State: 10
WP: Payton Tolle (3-5)
LP: Blake Wimberley (2-6)
SV: N/A

How it happened:

  • After he retired the first seven batters he faced and eight of the first nine, Wimberley saw the Shockers tally five straight hits with two outs in the third, as 2B Brock Rodden, 2B Sawyre Thornhill, LF Jordan Rogers (2), and DH Garrett Kocis each had an RBI hit in the frame, which put the Shockers in front 5-0 after 2.
