Big first inning looms large as Tigers fall 12-3

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Before the Memphis Tigers stepped to the plate Sunday, they faced an uphill climb, as the Tulane Green Wave struck for six runs in the opening frame, all part of a 12-3 Memphis loss. The first six batters of the game reached base safely against Chris Durham (L, 2-5), and all six came around to score, as the Memphis starter recorded just two outs. The Tigers emptied the bullpen in the loss, as they used a season-high nine pitchers.

Durham, in an effort to help Memphis (12-26, 2-14) avoid the series sweep, couldn't get into a groove.
