MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a strong outing to start his 2019 campaign, senior right-handed pitcher Alex Hicks was named to The American's weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.
The Collierville, Tenn., native picked up the win in Game 2 of a double-header against Indiana on Saturday, helping secure a 6-3 Tiger victory.
Hicks threw five innings shutout innings, gave up just three hits and fanned eight Hoosier batters. His eight strikeouts were just one shy of his career-best mark. After allowing a pair of hits in the top of the first inning, Hicks settled in to retire 14 of the next 15 hitters.
