MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A month after earning Google Cloud Academic All-District honors, Memphis baseball junior Alec Trela was named Third Team Google Cloud Academic All-America, as selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
Trela becomes the third Academic All-America honoree in program history, joining alumni Chad Zurcher (2011) and Tucker Tubbs (2015).
The Bloomington, Ill., native holds a 4.0 grade-point average in Biomedical Engineering. Trela, a UofM Dean's List honoree, has also been named to The American's All-Academic team in his previous two years at Memphis.
On the diamond, Trela started every game this season for the Tigers at shortstop and currently leads the squad with 169 career starts.
