The Grizzlies came out very aggressive and had to in order to beat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. Memphis scored on three off their first four possessions and led the Bucks 15-7 which forced the Bucks to take an early first quarter timeout.
The young Grizzlies came out showing that they were better than a eighteen game losing streak. Kobi Simmons in particular was excellent with the ball throughout the first quarter before getting subbed out. Marc Gasol came out aggressive, and looked excellent. Simmons ended the quarter with four points and three assists. The Grizzlies trailed the Bucks 32-24 after one quarter.
