Memphis Grizzlies co-owner Stephen Kaplan increased his stake in the esports organization, Immortals, recently this week. This news comes after co-owner of the Golden State Warriors, Peter Gruber, purchased Team Liquid and the Philadelphia 76ers purchased Team Dignitas and Team Apex earlier in the week.
Notable NBA players Shaquille O’Neal and Rick Fox have already invested and own teams in the esports scene as well. With esports currently making $500 million in revenue as of 2015, expect more big names to invest in the league. By increasing his investment, Kaplan is now a “major shareholder” and will join the company board.
