The Memphis Grizzlies have exhausted their run with the infamous Core Four of the “Grit-‘N’-Grind” era. Mike Conley is the lone piece remaining following February’s NBA Trade Deadline, where the Grizzlies severed ties with three-time NBA All-Star center Marc Gasol.
In return, the Memphis Grizzlies were not able to convince a team to fork over a future first-round pick or two, but the Toronto Raptors’ consolation prize(s) were appetizing for many reasons. At the time of the deal, many fans of the Grizzlies were unsure what to think.
