Grizzlies gifted golden opportunity to trade for future Hall of Famer on the cheap

All signs point to the Grizzlies' starting point guard, Ja Morant, returning to the lineup in their next game on December 12th against the Utah Jazz. His 10-game absence resulted in the Grizzlies playing without a true point guard, as backups Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr. were already out and don't anticipate a return from their injuries until at least January.

Despite the injuries at the lead guard position, which also included two-way rookie point guard Javon Small being out as well, the team managed to win seven of its last 10 games. As impressive as that is, it is likely not sustainable if Morant goes down again, especially considering his injury history and at least another month without Jerome and Pippen Jr.
