MEMPHIS – Among the most attractive aspects of the Grizzlies job for David Fizdale was the opportunity to inherit a roster of established veterans with one the league’s most respected defensive reputations.

But schematically, there remains a language barrier that must be broken down during the preseason. That methodical task continues with Thursday’s exhibition game against Atlanta at FedExForum.

“We’re all trying to fall on the same page,” Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph said. “We’re a defensive team and (Fizdale) understands that. We’ve got a first-team defensive player and a (Defensive Player of the Year).
