The Memphis Grizzlies are preparing for another postseason run with their dangerous “Core Four.” Just like old times, right? Marc Gasol is dominating as one of the league’s only point centers. Mike Conley has silently established himself as a top point guard. Zach Randolph and Tony Allen have stuck to their game and still thrive. They’ve overachieved this season despite the absence and mediocrity of Chandler Parsons.
Unfortunately, great things don’t last forever. Zach Randolph, Tony Allen and Vince Carter are all older than 35 and approaching free agency. As the Grizzlies look to move on from “Grit ‘n’ Grind” to a modern offense built around a potential Big 3 of Mike Conley, Marc Gasol and Chandler Parsons (please, basketball gods, help us out on this one and just give him a pair of good knees), they must look for the right pieces to put around them.
