Taulia Tagovailoa named Maryland football’s starting quarterback

Sophomore Taulia Tagovailoa, who transferred from Alabama back in May, will lead Maryland football under center, a team spokesperson told Testudo Times just under an hour before the Terps’ first game of the 2020 season against Northwestern.

Locksley decided between Tagovailoa and redshirt-freshman Lance LeGendre for the job, neither of whom have a long resume of collegiate action.

As a freshman for the Crimson Tide in 2019, Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback, Tua, saw limited action but completed 9-of-12 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown across five games.
