Former Towson sports information director Dan O’Connell died because of complications from Parkinson’s disease and dementia Jan. 10 at the age of 72 at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. O’Connell began working for the Tigers in 1979 after being hired by Pete Schlehr, and the former succeeded the latter as sports information director in 2011 and served in that capacity until 2014.
