No. 2 Maryland women’s basketball overpowered in 86-67 loss to No. 7 Stanford

It’s hard to pinpoint a single moment in a game when a team’s fortunes turn for the worst, but for No. 2 Maryland women’s basketball, it happened at the 2:56 mark in the second quarter against No. 7 Stanford.

Guard Ashley Owusu put her shoulder down and drove into the restricted area and was called for a charge, picking up her third foul of the game. The junior guard was then assessed a flagrant, giving her four fouls. The Terps’ top fascilitator was then subbed out and did not return until the third quarter.

An early Angel Reese foul made a thin Maryland bench even thinner.
