Maryland women’s basketball’s backcourt duo of Ashley Owusu and Diamond Miller will begin 2021 AmeriCup tournament play with USA Basketball starting on Saturday evening.
The Terps’ rising juniors are two of 12 players to be listed on the USA’s roster for the event, which will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico. USA Basketball will compete against the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Argentina to round out the group stage. The team’s first game will come against the Dominican Republic Saturday at 6:10 p.m. EDT. Each AmeriCup game will be televised on ESPN+.
The top four teams from the tournament will move on to play in one of four 2022 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournaments for a chance to earn a spot in the 2022 FIBA World Cup field.
