Maryland men’s basketball officially announced on Tuesday it signed freshman combo guard Ian Martinez, who is transferring from the University of Utah.
While at Utah, Martinez averaged 5.2 points per game over 25 games, shot .495 from the field and .839 from the free throw line. One of his strongest performances was against the University of Southern California, Los Angeles when he scored 18 points against the Trojans in the Pac-12 Tournament.
Before college, Martinez was a four-star recruit who was named to All-CIF Southern Section (Division I), OC Register All-Orange County First-Team and First-Team All-Trinity League.
