MM 1.11: Maryland wrestling drops season opener to No. 3 Michigan

Maryland wrestler Kyle Cochran was locked into a close 184-pound bout with No. 3 Michigan’s Joseph Walker Sunday afternoon. A third period escape by Cochran — who was the team’s 165-pounder last season — earned him a hard-fought 3-2 decision.

The three points Maryland wrestling was awarded from that win were the only ones it put on the board, as the Wolverines won every other match and rolled to a 38-3 victory in the season-opening dual at the Xfinity Center Pavilion.

For the Terrapins, this loss was nothing new — the team has totaled just four wins in its last two seasons.
