Maryland men’s basketball head coach Mark Turgeon was selected as the 2021 Community Champion Award recipient, an award he will receive at the Johnny Holliday Scholarship Classic golf tournament, the program announced on Monday morning.
The 2021 Community Champion Award praises an individual who exhibits a spirit of service, commitment to the community and devotion to the betterment of society, per the release. The award will be presented to Turgeon during the reception at the 19th hole, which will take place on Oct. 25 at the Norbeck Country Club in Olney, Maryland.
Other Maryland legends that have received this award include Brooks Robinson, Ryan Zimmerman, Gary Williams, the Lerner family, Thomas Manger, Leon Harris, Kevin Plank and Morgan Wootten.
