MM 10.14: Maryland football to commemorate 2001 ACC championship team at homecoming game

Maryland’s homecoming football game against Indiana on Oct. 30 will celebrate the 2001 ACC championship team and head coach Ralph Friedgen. It was Maryland’s first conference championship since 1985.

The game against Indiana, scheduled for noon, will have various moments throughout the game that celebrate the team. It will be a 20th anniversary recognition of the championship team, along with the 20th anniversary of Friedgen winning the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year award. The on-field recognition will take place between the first and second quarter of the game.

Friedgen coached Maryland from 2001-10 with a 75-50 record, seven bowl appearances and five bowl wins.
