Maryland’s season continues to unravel with a loss to Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. — Coming off an open weekend during which a full complement of ailing starters was able to heal and rejoin the lineup, the Maryland football team nonetheless continued in a tailspin with a 33-27 loss to Northwestern on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field.

The Terrapins (5-3, 2-3 Big Ten) completed a winless October by dropping their third consecutive game and their second in a row to an opponent that entered at or near the bottom of the conference, undone by blown assignments and missed tackles on defense and a pair of turnovers by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa on offense.
