Maryland women’s basketball guard Channise Lewis undergoes knee surgery

No. 8 Maryland women’s basketball point guard Channise Lewis underwent surgery on Tuesday for a torn lateral meniscus in her left knee and is expected to miss a couple of months, according to a team spokesperson.

The junior guard suffered the injury in a scrimmage against Lincoln on Oct. 29 and has missed the Terps’ first two games of the season against Wagner and then-No. 8 South Carolina.

Lewis is the second player that Maryland has lost to a knee injury. In October, freshman guard Zoe Young suffered a torn ACL during a non-contact drill.

In her first two seasons, Lewis played just over 26 minutes per contest, working as the team’s facilitator.
