Maryland women’s basketball will be without freshman Zoe Young for the 2019-20 season after the shooting guard suffered a torn ACL, a team spokesperson confirmed to Testudo Times.

The injury occurred during a non-contact drill at practice earlier this month, according to the Baltimore Sun.

This marks the ninth Maryland athlete to have torn an ACL in the 2019 calendar year.

Young was rated as the No. 32 overall recruit in 2019 by ESPN and was a part of Maryland’s incoming class that ranked No. 3 in the nation. She figured to play a role as a true freshman, but instead will likely redshirt.
