Maryland women thump Rutgers, improve NCAA chances

Bri McDaniel stood near the baseline and gave teammate Emily Fisher a hug as the Maryland band played loudly at Xfinity Center. The sophomore from Chicago then did a little dance, skipping back and forth from her left foot to her right before turning to get a few moves in with Shyanne Sellers.

There was reason to dance for the Terrapins, who won their fourth straight with a nearly wire-to-wire, 81-62 dismantling of Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights’ only lead was 2-0.

The win pushed the Terrapins’ record to 16-10 (8-7 Big Ten). They are still squarely on the NCAA bubble, but their footing is getting steadier.
