Maryland men’s lacrosse wins NCAA national championship, completes perfect season with 9-7 win over Cornell

EAST HARTFORD, CONN. — As the game clock winded down, the Maryland men’ lacrosse sideline began to realize that its dream was about to turn into a reality. Cornell had rightfully earned the right to play on Championship Monday, but the seventh-seeded Big Red were no match for undefeated and top-seeded Maryland.

As the final horn sounded, the Terps rushed the field, throwing their equipment in the air in a moment of pure jubilation. As the players dogpiled on top of junior goalie Logan McNaney, head coach John Tillman threw his hands in the air and embraced whomever stood next to him in synchronization with the large contingent of Maryland fans that had gathered behind the team’s bench.
