Maryland men's lacrosse attackman Matt Rambo received probation before judgment for October incident

The criminal case against Maryland starting attackman Matt Rambo related to his involvement in an Oct. 22 incident in College Park has been closed.

According to online records, Rambo, 20, received probation before judgment on a single count of second-degree assault. Probation before judgment allows a defendant's record to eventually be cleared if he meets all conditions. He was acquitted of a charge of malicious destruction of property.

First-degree assault charges against Rambo and student assistant coach Brian Cooper were dismissed in November. Cooper, a Crofton resident and Archbishop Spalding graduate, was removed from the team shortly after the incident.
