Marcus Dockery, a 6-foot-1 junior guard from Washington, has verbally committed to the Maryland men’s basketball team for its 2020 recruiting class, a source familiar with his recruiting said Thursday.

Dockery is a four-star prospect ranked No. 154 in the country, according to 24/7 Sports. Dockery plays for Bishop O’Connell in Alexandria, Va., the same school that produced former Terp star Melo Trimble.

The commitment followed an official visit to College Park last week. Dockery becomes the first high school player to commit to the Terps for their 2020 class.

Maryland could also get a commitment next week for its 2019 class from Donta Scott, a 6-6 forward from Philadelphia.
