Maryland men slip past Penn State, return to Big Ten lacrosse final

The second-seeded Maryland men’s lacrosse team was on the ropes midway through the fourth quarter Thursday in the Big Ten tournament semifinals against No. 3 seed Penn State. Then fifth-year attackman Daniel Kelly stepped in with a pair of decisive goals that secured the Terrapins a 10-8 triumph at Michigan Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor.

A career-high five goals on as many shots from Kelly complemented sixth-year goalie Logan McNaney’s 10 saves and sent the Terps (12-6) to the Big Ten championship game Saturday night against top-seeded Ohio State. Maryland will be making its seventh appearance in the Big Ten final, seeking a fifth title.
