The postseason fortunes of the third-ranked Maryland men’s lacrosse team came into clearer focus shortly before the Terrapins stepped onto the field for the opening faceoff against visiting Johns Hopkins on Friday night. Thanks to a result earlier in the day, Maryland was guaranteed the No. 2 seed and a bye into the Big Ten tournament semifinals with a win against its in-state rival in the regular season finale.
Behind four goals from junior attackman Braden Erksa and a decisive flurry to close the fourth quarter, the Terps celebrated an 11-8 triumph in front of an announced crowd of 10,123, the largest this season at SECU Stadium.
