Maryland football defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote was selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys Saturday. He was the fifth and final Terp taken Saturday at No. 247 overall.
Akingbesote spent his entire four-year career at Maryland. He played in every season, but earned a full-time starting job as a senior, which led to a career-best 32 tackles (16 solo) and five tackles for loss. He also recorded a sack and forced fumble last year.
At the NFL Draft Combine, Akingbesote measured in at 6-foot-4 and 306 pounds. He earned a score of 61 by NFL Next Gen Stats, which ranked 29th among defensive tackles.
