Maryland basketball to play Towson for first time in 20 years

When Maryland and Towson play each other in men’s basketball next season, it will mark the first time in 20 years that the state’s two largest schools faced each other.

Put it this way: the last time the Terps and Tigers met, Keith Booth was the team’s senior star who led Maryland to 12 straight wins to start the 1996-97 season -- including a 93-76 win over Towson in the second game -- and a 15-1 start overall.

That was the school’s best 16-game start until it was matched last season when sophomore guard Melo Trimble hit a long, game-winning 3-pointer to beat Wisconsin.
