Former Maryland left-handed pitcher Kyle McCoy was selected Monday in the eighth round of the 2025 MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds.

McCoy was the standout arm in the Terps’ 2025 pitching carousel. After missing the 2024 season with an injury, he finished with a 6-3 record across 14 starts and a 3.32 ERA in 84 innings of work.

After earning Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors in 2023, McCoy picked up right where he left off, pitching the third-most innings in the conference, only behind fellow draftees Grayson Grinsell (Oregon) and Joseph Dzierwa (Michigan State).

He finished his Maryland career with 110 strikeouts to just 45 walks in 137 1/3 innings.
