Former Maryland center Damonte Dodd indicted on rape, assault charges

Former Maryland basketball player Damonte Dodd has been indicted on charges of second-degree rape and second-degree assault after he allegedly had sex with an intoxicated woman last November, Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks announced Friday.

“The fact that the victim in this case was intoxicated did not give Mr. Dodd the right to take advantage of her,” Alsobrooks said in a statement. “We will conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that he is held accountable for his actions.”

Here are some details from the statement:

On October 31, 2017, the victim and friends went to Terrapin’s Turf Bar to celebrate Halloween, where she met Dodd for the first time.
