Former Maryland assistant Robert Ehsan promoted to UAB head coach

Former Maryland basketball assistant coach Robert Ehsan has been promoted to head coach at UAB, the team announced Monday.

In his six seasons at Maryland, Ehsan was a graduate assistant, a recruiting assistant and an assistant coach. At UAB, Ehsan served as associate head coach for two years and was an assistant for two years before that.

"I have been fortunate to hone my craft with coaches like Gary Williams, Seth Greenberg and Jerod Haase," Ehsan said in a statement. "It will be a natural step to now lead our very talented team to continued growth. I have been honored to be a part of the Blazer family and this program of tradition as we build another era of success and great pride for UAB Basketball.
