Former Maryland basketball player Travis Garrison will be required to register as a sex offender after being found guilty of assault and a sex offense.
Anne Arundel County District Court Judge Robert Wilcox also sentenced Garrison to three years in prison, all suspended.
Garrison was found guilty last month on three counts of second degree assault and one count of a fourth-degree sex offense.
In 2005, Garrison was charged with a sex offense and second-degree assault stemming from an October incident at the Cornerstone Grill and Loft in College Park.
Prince George's County District Court Judge Joseph Brown sentenced Garrison in 2006 to 100 hours of community service to be served within six months, placed him under two years of probation (one supervised) and ordered him to spend at least 10 hours lecturing for the Maryland athletic department "about the perils of athletes doing these kinds of acts.
