Darnell Savage & Byron Cowart represented Maryland football at the Senior Bowl

As several former Maryland football players turn their focus to the NFL Draft, two Terps defenders showed their stuff in the Reese’s Senior Bowl this weekend.

Safety Darnell Savage and defensive end Byron Cowart were both members of the North team, which beat the South 34-24 in Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday. Neither made huge impacts in the box score—Cowart assisted on one tackle, Savage didn’t record any stats—but both impressed all week in practice, with Savage being honored for his efforts.

Savage intercepted four passes in 2018, tied for second in the conference behind teammate Tre Watson (five) and 13th in the country.
