Brandon Ross, Wes Brown begin battle to start at running back for Maryland

Senior Brandon Ross and junior Wes Brown are expected to play key roles in Maryland’s ground attack this season, but Coach Randy Edsall said Monday that training camp will determine which player will get the bulk of the carries once the season opens in September.

Ross and Brown have been here before – both were part of a four-way race during last year’s fall camp, and Ross eventually was named the starter to begin the season. The position’s depth has thinned considerably since then, with senior Albert Reid and junior Jacquille Veii both transferring after spring practice.
