After an up-and-down college career, Byron Cowart could hear his name in the NFL Draft

When Byron Cowart signed with Maryland football in December 2017, it was his final shot at salvaging what was supposed to be a stepping stone on his rise to stardom.

Cowart committed to Auburn as the No. 3 overall recruit and the top-ranked defensive end in the Class of 2015, according to the 247 Sports Composite, but never lived up to expectations. In 26 games for the Tigers, he recorded just 15 tackles before leaving Auburn and transferring to Hillsborough Community College in Florida just three games into the 2017 season.

He took advantage of his one year in College Park, starting every game at defensive end while recording 38 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
