Former Maryland men’s basketball guard Aaron Wiggins was selected No. 55 overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2021 NBA Draft Thursday night.
Wiggins is the fifth Terp drafted in the last four years joining the likes of Kevin Huerter, Justin Jackson, Bruno Fernando and most recently Jalen Smith who was drafted No. 10 overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2020.
The Greensboro, North Carolina native was projected to go sometime in the second round when inn early July, Wiggins announced he would forgo his remaining college eligibility and remain in the draft.
During his junior season, Wiggins was the Terps’ leading scorer averaging 14.
