True freshman CB Jackson a pleasant surprise for Marshall

HUNTINGTON — After Saturday’s practice, Marshall coaches awarded wide receiver Justin Hunt with a pro wrestling-type belt for the week’s best offensive performance.

During that practice, truer-than-true freshman cornerback Chris Jackson drew the assignment of covering Hunt man-to-man.

Several times, the senior Hunt schooled Jackson down the left sideline. Other times, Jackson showed why MU coaches recruited him and welcomed him as an early enrollee out of high school.

“He made more [plays] than he got burned, I think,” said MU coach Doc Holliday. “I noticed him today, and I noticed him make a couple of plays.
