HUNTINGTON – If the ultra-busy schedule of Dr. Jerry Gilbert – as the Marshall University president – keeps him from viewing his new favorite team, well, he can always call his mom.
“My mother, she’ll be 95 this year and probably wouldn’t want me to say that,” Gilbert said, smiling, during a Wednesday session with the media in his Old Main office. “She watches every sports event on television. She’s seen every Marshall game that’s been televised in Mississippi. She’s very much sports-oriented.”
Although he’s only been officially on the job as MU’s 37th president for a few days, Gilbert already has had a presence with the Thundering Herd.
