Stevie Browning scores 32 points as Marshall men's basketball downs Morehead State 85-77

HUNTINGTON — Marshall men’s basketball took back the Ellis Johnson Trophy from Morehead State Wednesday night in a back-and-forth affair, thanks to a career night from junior guard Stevie Browning.

The Thundering Herd (2-0) used a 32-point performance from the Logan native to pull out an 85-77 win in the Cam Henderson Center.

Browning said last year’s 85-61 loss at Morehead — the Herd’s third in a row against the Eagles — was a tough one, and the rematch was personal.

“We competed in practice every day,” Browning said. “We went through the game plan and executed it just how Coach [Dan] D’Antoni wanted us to, and it all worked out.
