Two of the top scoring defenses in the nation will clash when the Connecticut Huskies take on the Marshall Thundering Herd in the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl at Tropicana Field.
After posting a 2-10 record a year ago, head coach Bob Diaco has directed a quick turnaround at Connecticut in his second season. The Huskies rose to 6-6 this season with a signature win over AAC champion Houston on Nov. 21.
Connecticut’s successful season was all due to a defense that allowed just over 20 points per contest. Sophomore cornerback Jamar Summers led the way with seven interceptions, the third-highest total of any player in the nation.
