ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — In this era of postseason overkill, the St. Petersburg Bowl has become downright established.
Almost storied, even.
As this game enters its eighth season, it is older than nine others: Heart of Dallas, Bahamas, Boca Raton, Camellia, Miami Beach, Quick Lane (new Detroit game), Cure and Arizona.
It’s not exactly the Orange Bowl or the Tampa-based Outback Bowl, and it plays in the most disrespected ballpark in baseball.
But the game has a firm footing in the 41-bowl lineup, and Marshall has twice had its place in the game. Thundering Herd players and coaches arrived Tuesday, checked into their hotel and took part in two functions.
