HUNTINGTON — As the third week of Marshall spring practice wore on, there was a noticeable change in the defense.
It wasn’t just that the young, retooling unit stood out late in Thursday’s practice, it was the way it did. Quarterbacks Chase Litton and Michael Birdsong were tag “sacked” several times, and defensive backs played well.
A contributing factor: Blitz packages were installed, and used effectively.
It’s a rite of spring in the Thundering Herd camp, and it probably will continue Saturday morning in the season’s first scrimmage. Expect blitzes, and maybe lots of them.
The Herd’s practice begins at 9:30 a.
