Marshall senior forward James Kelly was named the Conference USA men’s basketball player of the week, the league announced Monday.
The honor is Kelly’s third of the season and he is the first Herd player to earn the title more than once.
Kelly posted Marshall’s first 20-20 game in 43 years with 27 points and a career-high 23 rebounds against Charlotte Thursday, helping the Herd record its first win against the 49ers in Huntington since 1972. Kelly now has 12 double-doubles on the season, good for second in C-USA.
Marshall (15-12, 11-3 C-USA) travels to Birmingham, Alabama to take on league-leading Alabama-Birmingham Thursday at 8 p.
