RB Trey Rodriguez leaves Marshall football team

The river of attrition rose again at Marshall, which lost a starting running back during its bye week.

Trey Rodriguez, who started the Thundering Herd’s first two games, has left the program, MU officials confirmed Friday.

He has the most carries in the Herd backfield, 33 through three games, but that apparently was not going to last long. He netted just 72 yards, or 2.2 yards per carry, and was being overshadowed by two other backs.

Keion Davis, the starter in the Herd’s last game, leads with 105 rushing yards. Newcomer Tyler King may have provided the last straw, as he picked up most of his 101 yards in the fourth quarter of that last game, a 21-0 win over Kent State.
