Noah Frampton, Aleksa Nikolic in running for Marshall's backup point guard job

HUNTINGTON — As Jon Elmore burst upon the scene as Marshall’s flashy point guard, he played 36.4 minutes per game in Conference USA play, fifth-highest in the league.

That became necessary long before mid-December, when Elmore became eligible. Aleksa Nikolic and Noah Frampton suffered season-ending injuries, sapping the team of point guards. As Thundering Herd fans may recall, Stevie Browning played point guard for the first time in his life.

The idea is to reduce Elmore’s workload, with the obvious plan to keep him fresh. With the 6-foot-6 1/2-inch Nikolic playing other positions, the battle comes down to redshirt freshman Frampton and true freshman Ky’re Allison.
