Middle Tennessee wallops Marshall Women, 94-69

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women’s basketball team placed all five of its starters in double figures and tied a season high with 14 3-pointers on the way to a 94-69 win over visiting Marshall Saturday afternoon at the Murphy Center. The Blue Raiders lead from start to finish and improved to 17-9 overall, 12-3 in Conference USA. The Thundering Herd dropped its sixth game in a row to fall to 12-13 — the first time this season the Herd has fallen below .500 overall — and 4-10 league play. Marshall is in 11th place only one game ahead of UTEP and FIU in the standings, both at 3-11 and tied at 12 above 0-14 Florida Atlantic, and needs to finish at 12 or higher to make the C-USA Tournament in Birmingham, Ala.
